White Linen Night in the Heights recap

We’re still reveling in the excitement and energy that surrounded 19th Street and the Heights on White Linen Night 2017. The forecast was calling for showers—but the sun came out just in time to save the street party. It was our inaugural White Linen Night as a Heights business and we’re excited to say it was a huge success.

We were on Fox 26!

We were on Fox 26!

To get the excitement going the week before, we popped by the Fox 26 studios to give some on-air advice about how to wear your hair and makeup for the event in the Houston heat. Our recommendations were braids (more on that below) to keep the hair off your neck and Aveda's new Cooling Balancing Oil Concentrate (helps to calm your senses and refresh your skin) plus a pop of color on the lips (our go-to is Aveda’s nourish-mint Rehydrating Lip Glaze).

White Linen Night Models

The night of, our creative director was going for a Beach Barbie meets high-glam runway look and we think he killed it. While our models were out engaging with the crowd we were busy inside giving makeup touch ups, jamming to our DJ and replenishing the food and drink table. (If you’re wondering, their swimwear is from Beach Riot.)

Our braid bar was a hit!

If you didn’t come to White Linen Night with a braid in your hair, you probably left with one! We’re excited to announce we raised $250 from our donation-based braid bar, 100% of the proceeds going to local animal nonprofit Scout’s Honor. If you came by to get a braid and made a donation, THANK YOU!

If you're not familiar, check out the work Scout’s Honor does—it’s pretty amazing. Not only do they rescue animals off the streets, they also save pups and kittens from city pounds, a few of which were at White Linen Night looking for their fur-ever homes.

Mark your calendars for #WLN2018

Sadly, we’ve vacuumed, moved our chairs back and said our goodbyes to the DJ table. White Linen Night may be over, but we’re still so thankful to be a part of such a fun and artistic neighborhood. So, to everyone that helped make our first White Linen Night a success: thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

If you missed us, our new location is nestled on the corner of 19th and Rutland Streets, right beside We Olive and Wine.
